Choosing a battery for the Honda Civic Type R
The Civic Type R has been on sale since 1997 and is a current model. Cars of this age carry a lot of electronics, and most need a maintenance-free flooded battery matched to the factory specification.
Compact cars use smaller batteries with less reserve, so short trips with the AC running drain them faster. The good news is that replacement is quick and the batteries are easy to stock.
What a Honda needs from its battery
Most Hondas take JIS flooded batteries, usually NS40 or NS60 on the City, Jazz and Civic and 55D23L on the Accord, CR-V and Pilot. Models with idle stop generally need an EFB. The label confirms the size.
Many older Hondas lock the radio after the battery is disconnected and ask for an anti-theft code, so have it ready. Newer ones have a battery sensor on the negative terminal that should not be bypassed with accessory wiring.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Honda Civic Type R battery questions
What battery does the Honda Civic Type R use?
For the Civic Type R we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Civic Type R battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Civic Type R battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the Civic Type R need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
