Quick answer

Engine repair covers diagnosing and fixing faults in the engine and the systems that keep it running: ignition, fuelling, cooling, timing and lubrication. The work starts with reading the fault codes and live data, then testing the suspect part. Guessing with new parts is the expensive way to do it.

What the job covers

  • Fault code scan and live data reading
  • Ignition coil, spark plug and injector testing
  • Cooling system pressure test: radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat
  • Oil and coolant leak tracing
  • Belt, tensioner and engine mount inspection

Signs you need it

  1. 01 The check engine light is on, or flashing under load
  2. 02 Rough idle, shaking or hesitation when pulling away
  3. 03 The temperature climbs in traffic or coolant keeps dropping
  4. 04 White, blue or black smoke from the exhaust
How it works

How Engine Repair works

  1. 01

Message the symptoms, any warning text on the dash and a short video if there is a noise

  2. 02

A technician scans the car where it is, or it is moved on a flatbed if it should not run

  3. 03

You receive the diagnosis, the options and a quote before work starts

  4. 04

The repair is done, codes cleared and the car road tested

Range Rover and Land Rover

On a Range Rover

Range Rover engines sit tight in the bay with a lot of plastic in the cooling system, and UAE heat makes those plastic pipes and housings brittle with age, so coolant loss should be checked early. A reader that can access Land Rover manufacturer codes gives far more detail than a generic one, and we use that before quoting.

Questions

Engine Repair questions

More questions answered

Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?

A steady light with a car that drives normally can wait a day or two for a scan. A flashing light, overheating or an oil warning means stop and switch off.

My engine overheated. What should I do?

Pull over, switch off and do not open the coolant cap while it is hot. Have it recovered. Driving on with a hot engine is how head gaskets fail.

Could a weak battery cause engine warnings?

Yes. Low voltage makes sensors and control units report faults that are not real, so we test the battery first on any car with multiple warnings.
