Choosing a battery for the Suzuki Sidekick
The Sidekick was built from 1989 to 1998, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
As an SUV it carries a larger battery than a small hatchback, and the AC and rear climate work hard in UAE traffic. We bring the full-capacity unit, not a smaller one that happens to fit the tray.
What a Suzuki needs from its battery
Most Suzukis take compact JIS flooded batteries, usually NS40 on the smaller cars and NS60 on the Vitara, Ertiga and Jimny. Mild hybrid versions are different and are confirmed from the VIN.
The battery trays are tight and the terminals are the thin JIS type, so upsizing is rarely possible. On a Jimny with a winch or spotlights, that is worth knowing before the accessories go on.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

We recommend by car and budget, and tell you plainly when a cheaper battery is the wrong choice for a start-stop engine.

Suzuki Sidekick battery questions
What battery does the Suzuki Sidekick use?
For the Sidekick we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a Sidekick battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my Sidekick battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the Sidekick need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
