Choosing a battery for the Rover 100
The 100 was built from 1994 to 1998, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
Coupés often sit for days between drives, and that is when a battery quietly discharges. If yours is a weekend car, ask us about a maintenance charger when we fit the new battery.
What a Rover needs from its battery
Most modern British cars with stop/start take an AGM battery in a DIN size, usually H6, H7 or H8. Older models without stop/start often run a standard flooded battery. The technician confirms the exact size from the battery label or the VIN before dispatch.
Many of these cars have a battery monitoring system that should be told a new battery has been fitted. On several models the battery sits in the boot or under a trim cover, not in plain view under the bonnet.
