What a Ram needs from its battery
Ram trucks here pull boats, carry quad bikes and sit in the sun on the weekdays in between. Towing electrics and trailer brakes add to a load that is already heavy for the climate.
Battery type and size
The Ram 1500 usually takes an H7 or H8 battery, AGM on recent trucks. Older models commonly use BCI Group 65. Heavy-duty diesels need more cranking power and are specified separately.
Worth knowing before fitting
Diesel 2500 and 3500 trucks run two batteries, one on each side of the engine bay, and both should be changed at the same time. Recent 1500s with eTorque also have a 48V mild hybrid pack, which is separate from the 12V battery and is not part of a roadside replacement.
