Choosing a battery for the Ford Granada
The Granada was built from 1977 to 1985, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.

What a Ford needs from its battery
Older Fords and many trucks use the BCI Group 65 battery. Most newer models take DIN sizes, usually H6 or H7, and EcoBoost cars with auto start-stop need AGM. The technician confirms from the label or the VIN.
Recent Fords have a battery monitoring system that tracks the age of the battery. It should be reset after a replacement, otherwise the car keeps limiting charge and switching off features as if the old battery were still fitted.
