Choosing a battery for the Audi 80
The 80 was built from 1972 to 1996, before start-stop was common, so most examples run a conventional maintenance-free battery. Age matters more than mileage on these cars: cables, terminals and the alternator are worth checking at the same visit.
Saloons like this are daily commuters, and stop-and-go traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road with the AC on full is hard on a battery. A test every spring catches a weak one before it strands you.
What a Audi needs from its battery
Most Audis from the last decade have stop/start and take an AGM battery, usually H7 or H8, with H6 on the smaller A3 and Q3. A few entry models use EFB. Capacity varies with engine and options, so the technician reads the label or the VIN first.
Audi energy management expects the new battery to be coded to the car with a diagnostic tool, so the charging strategy starts fresh. On several larger models the battery is in the boot under the floor, not under the bonnet.
Send a photo of the label on your current battery, or the registration card, and we will confirm the exact specification before the technician leaves.

Audi 80 battery questions
What battery does the Audi 80 use?
For the 80 we normally fit a maintenance-free flooded battery. Capacity and size vary with engine and year, so we check the label on the old battery or the VIN before bringing the replacement.
How long does a 80 battery last in the UAE?
In UAE heat a car battery typically lasts two to three years. Covered parking and a longer drive each week help it reach the upper end of that range.
Can you replace my 80 battery in a basement car park?
Yes. Our service vehicles fit standard basement height limits. Share the level and bay number and let security know a technician is coming.
Does the 80 need the battery registered after replacement?
This model does not normally need battery registration. The technician carries a diagnostic tool and checks for stored battery faults either way.
Battery trouble right now?
Send your location and car model. A technician is usually with you in 20 to 35 minutes.
No call-out surprises. You get the quote before we move.
